Eligibilities for Post-Graduate Programs

Admission to all the ME/MTech programs shall be made on the basis of valid GATE score in respective discipline. First preference will be given to GATE qualified candidates and who have obtained at least 60% (55% for SC/ST) marks in the aggregate in the qualifying examination from a recognised University.

After offering seats to the GATE qualified candidates, for seats remaining vacant (if any), the admission will be made on the basis of following method:

  1. In ME/M.Tech programs offered by CSED, MED, CED and ECED. The seats remaining vacant after offering to the GATE qualified candidates shall be filled by conducting offline test. Admission to ME/MTech programme shall be open to candidates who obtain at least 60% (55% for SC/ST/Industry Sponsored) marks in the aggregate in the qualifying examination from a recognised University.
  2. In other departments/schools, remaining vacant seats shall be filled on the basis of merit prepared by giving 30% weightage to 12th marks and 70% weightage to BE/BTech marks (upto end of pre-final year). Overall minimum 60% (55% for SC/ST/Industry Sponsored) in BE/BTech shall be required to be eligible for admission.

    Or

    In case MSc is qualifying exam, the seats remaining vacant shall be filled on the basis of merit prepared by giving 50% weightage to BSc marks and 50% weightage to MSc marks (upto end of pre-final year). Overall minimum 60% (55% for SC/ST/Industry Sponsored) in MSc shall be required to be eligible for admission.

Qualifying examination for ME/MTech programme in various disciplines is as under:

ME – CAD/CAM Engineering/ Production Engineering/ Thermal Engineering
BE/BTech degree in Mechanical/ Production/ Industrial/ Mechatronics/ Automobile/ Marine/ Petroleum/ Chemical/ Metallurgy/ Heat power/ Aeronautical Engineering and Equivalent.

ME – Civil Infrastructure Engineering
BE/BTech in Civil Engineering, BE/BTech in Infrastructure Engineering

ME – Structural Engineering
BE/BTech degree in Civil Engineering.

ME – Computer Science & Engineering*
BE/BTech degree in any discipline of Engineering OR MSc in Mathematics/Statistics/Computer Science/Electronics/Physics/Operations Research/Information Science/Information Technology OR MCA OR Equivalent

ME – Information Security*
BE/BTech degree in any discipline of Engineering OR MSc in Mathematics/ Statistics/ Computer Science/Electronics/Physics/Operations Research/ Information Science/ Information technology OR MCA OR Equivalent.

ME – Software Engineering*

Degree in Biochemistry / Biotechnology / Microbiology / Bio-Physics / Biology / Botany / Zoology/ Genetics / MBBS / M.Sc.(Ag) & M.V. Sc.

MTech – Chemical Engineering BE/BTech (Chemical Engineering/Technology, Environmental, Biotechnology, Pulp and Paper Technology/Polymer Technology/Metallurgy/Materials/ Mechanical/ Ceramics Engineering or allied discipline) or M.Sc. (Applied /Industrial Chemistry) with Mathematics upto B.Sc. level.

MTech – Energy Technology and Management
BE/BTech in any branch of Engineering / Technology OR MSc in Physics or Chemistry with Mathematics at graduation level.

MTech – Environmental Science & Technology
BE/BTech degree in any branch of Engineering or Technology, OR MSc in Chemistry/ Biochemistry/ Biotechnology/ Life Sciences (including Botany and Zoology) / Atmospheric Sciences.

MTech – Metallurgical & Materials Engineering
BE/BTech degree in any branch of Engineering OR MSc in Materials Science/Physics/ Chemistry (with Physics and Mathematics at BSc Level)

Note: Candidate who has passed Section B of the Institution of Engineers (India) or Grade IETE and has three years of professional experience in reputed organization are also eligible for admission to ME/MTech programme in respective disciplines.

Sponsored Candidates with 55% marks in the qualifying examination are eligible for admission. Such candidates must have a minimum of two years of full time work experience in a registered firm/company/industry/educational and research institutions/any Government Department of Government Organization in the relevant field in which admission is being sought. The employer in the sponsorship certificate must indicate that the fee will be borne by the sponsoring organization and the candidate will not be withdrawn before the completion of the programme. The fee of the sponsored candidates shall be paid by the sponsoring agency from the company’s bank account.

Candidates who are appearing in the final exam of the qualifying degree are eligible to apply. Such candidates have to furnish following undertaking at the time of document checking/’In Person’ counselling.

I am applying on my own risk and responsibility as my final result of the qualifying exam has not been declared by the University.

I do hereby declare that I do not have any backlog paper in any of the previous semesters (Years) of study of the qualifying exam and also I do not expect any backlog in my final exam.

I assure you that I will produce the proof of passing of my qualifying examination with the minimum percentage of marks required on or before December 31, 2017, failing which my admission shall stand cancelled and I shall not claim any right on any count whatsoever.”

Note: For all the ME/MTech programs offered by a particular department/school single application form is required to be filled. However, if candidate want to apply for ME/MTech program of other department/school also, he/she is required to fill separate application form alongwith requisite application fee.

MCA (3-Years) Programme
Bachelor degree of minimum 3 years duration in any discipline from a recognised University with at least 60% marks (55% for SC/ST) in aggregate. Mathematics must be studied at 10+2 level or at graduation level.

Mode of Selection: Admission will be made on the basis of merit of 10th, 12th and graduation (upto end of 2nd year, minimum of 65% marks are required). Overall minimum 60% (55% for SC/ST) in graduation shall be required to be eligible for admission.

Candidate must attach mark sheets of 10th, 12th and all the marks sheets of Graduation upto end of 2nd year along with the printout of applications.


MCA Lateral Entry (2-Years) Programme
Recognized bachelor degree of minimum 3-years duration in BCA, B.Sc. (IT/Computer Science) with atleast 60% marks (55% for SC/ST) in aggregate. Mathematics must be studied at 10+2 level or at graduation level.

Mode of Selection: Merit list will be prepared on the basis of above said criteria and admission will be made according to this merit list.

Note: The candidates applying for MCA (2-years) and if found eligible will also be considered for admission in MCA (3-Years), they need not to apply separately. Candidates who are eligible to apply for MCA (2-yr) and MCA (3-yr) both programs required to fill single application form alongwith requisite application fee.

Eligibility for M.Sc. (Biotechnology): Candidates with bachelor's degree with minimum of 60% (55% for SC/ST) marks in graduation from recognized University under 10+2+3 pattern of education in Physical, Biological, Agricultural, Veterinary, and Fishery Sciences, Pharmacy, Engineering Technology, 4-Years BS (Physician Assistant) Course, Medicine (MBBS) or BDS.

Eligibility for M.Sc. (CHEMISTRY/BIOCHEMISTRY): Recognised Bachelor’s degree in Science of minimum 3-years duration with 60% (55% for SC/ST) marks in aggregate and Chemistry as one of the subject at the graduation level.

Eligibility for M.Sc. (MATHEMATICS AND COMPUTING): Recognised Bachelors degree of minimum 3-years duration with 60% (55% for SC/ST) marks in aggregate and Mathematics as one of the subject at the graduation level.

Eligibility for M.Sc. (PHYSICS): Recognised Bachelor’s degree in Science of minimum 3-years duration with 60% (55% for SC/ST) marks in aggregate and Physics as one of the subject at the graduation level. The program shall have following three specializations:

  1. Nuclear Science and Technology
  2. Modern Electronics
  3. Materials Technology

Mode of Selection for All M.Sc. Programs: Admissions in all the M.Sc. programs shall be made on the basis of merit prepared by giving 40% weightage to 12th marks and 60% weightage to Graduation marks (aggregate marks upto pre-final year). Overall minimum 60% (55% for SC/ST) in graduation shall be required to be eligible for admission. Graduation must be done from a recognized University.

Candidate must attach mark sheets of 12th and all the marks sheets of Graduation upto pre-final year alongwith the printout of applications.

Candidates having any pending backlog in the first two years of Graduation shall not be considered for admission. Percentage of marks secured at the end of 2nd year of graduation shall only be considered even if the candidate has completed the graduation.

Note: The candidate seeking admission in different MSc programs have to fill single form only with requisite fee mentioning discipline preferences.

Eligibility for M.A. (Economics) Programme

BA/B.Sc. in Economics/B.Com./B.Statistics/Bachelors in Business Administration - BBA/Bachelors in Business Studies- BBS/BE/B.Tech. with 50% (45% for SC/ST) at Bachelors level.

The program shall have following two specializations:

  • Money, Banking and Financial Markets
  • International Business

Eligibility for M.A. (Psychology) Programme

Recognized Bachelor degree in Psychology (Honors) or Arts/Science/Allied Sciences such as Home Sciences/ Nursing/Human Development/B.Tech of minimum 3-years duration with 50% marks (45% for SC/ST) in aggregate and Psychology as one of the subjects at graduation level. Candidates who have appeared in the examination of the final year shall also be eligible. However, for such candidates, admission shall be provisional.

The program shall have following two specializations:

  • Clinical Psychology
  • Counselling Psychology

Mode of Selection for All MA Programs: Admissions to MA programs shall be made by combining percentage of marks obtained at 12th and Graduation (aggregate marks upto end of second year/four semesters will be considered). Graduation must be done from a recognized University.

Candidate must attach mark sheets of 12th and all the marks sheets of Graduation upto end of 2nd year along with the printout of applications.

Candidates having any pending backlog in the first two years of Graduation shall not be considered for admission. Percentage of marks secured at the end of 2nd year of graduation shall only be considered even if the candidate has completed the graduation.

5% additional marks will be added for the students having honors degree in Psychology/Economics.
